The Motor Vehicles Unit, affiliated with the Department of Administrative and Financial Affairs of our university, held its first planning and evaluation meeting on April 2, 2026, under the coordination of the Head of the Department. At the meeting, held with the participation of the unit personnel, the transportation and logistics infrastructure of our university was comprehensively discussed.
During the meeting, the core responsibility areas of the unit—namely on-campus and off-campus logistics services, transportation activities, and field operations conducted with heavy machinery—were evaluated. In addition to the ongoing field operations, general operational challenges and proposed solutions were brought to the table. The main agenda items of the meeting consisted of the following topics:
* Vehicle Fleet and Maintenance Costs: Addressing the age of existing vehicles, optimizing the increasing periodic maintenance and repair costs, and accelerating spare parts procurement processes.
* Harsh Weather Conditions and Snow Control: Ensuring campus roads remain open continuously, particularly through the active use of heavy machinery (such as excavators) during the winter months, and taking preventative measures against icing.
* Austerity Measures and Fuel Management: Controlling fuel consumption in accordance with public austerity circulars and creating more efficient routes by consolidating assignment itineraries.
* Legislation and Official Document Tracking: Strengthening the tracking system to ensure the timely completion of compulsory traffic insurance, comprehensive insurance, exhaust emission tests, and vehicle inspections for institutional vehicles.

The meeting, which emphasized the necessity of a safe, economical, and uninterrupted transportation network to prevent any disruption to institutional services, concluded with the evaluation of personnel requests and suggestions regarding field operations.
